Take a close look at the probably most famous salt cellar from the 16th century.
The Saliera is a salt cellar from the late Renaissance and the only surviving gold work by the Italian sculptor and goldsmith Benvenuto Cellini. Manufactured between 1540 and 1543 it is now on display in the permanent exhibition at the Kunstkammer of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. In Austria the Saliera gained additional fame when it was stolen in 2003 in the course of a daring venture. In 2006, the Kunsthistorisches Museum fortunately regained possession of the unique exhibit, and now you can enjoy a close-up view on the 16 by 9 meter projection screen at the Deep Space.
