Hello All,

I am writing this from Linz, where things are moving very fast in
preparation for the FleshFactor festival and live symposium.

The live FF symposium will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this
week, September 9th and 10th. Speakers include Donna Haraway, Paul
Garrin, Huge Harry, Stelarc, Mark Weiser, Peter Fleissner, Robert Birge,
Peter Fromherz, Daniel Dennett, Hiroshi Ishii, Guillermo Gomez Pena,
Roberto Sifuentes, Patricia Smith Churchland, Steve Mann, Max More,
Agentur Bilwet/Adilkno, Neal Stephenson, Victoria Vesna and Pattie Maes.

All of these people have been subscribed to the FleshFactor net-symposium
and many have contributed to the net-symposium over the past five months.

The proceedings of this net-symposium will be the contextual thread for
our live presentations/discussions. It will also be the case that many
people will arrive in Linz having used the net-symposium to prepare for
the live discussions and events.

If you want to follow the festival and symposium during the week, please
check the Ars Electronica website:

http://www.aec.at (click on FLESHFACTOR)

This net-symposium, although quiet for the past few days, will continue
to remain an open channel for your contributions until September 21st,
when the FleshFactor net-symposium will be laid to rest. This will
provide you with a few more weeks of time to contribute to and
read/contemplate the FleshFactor.

It is very gratifying to meet so many people here who have followed our
net-symposium from the very beginning. Many conversations here centre on
the ideas developed during the course this net-symposium. Let me take
this opportunity to thank all the contributors and readers of FleshFactor
for creating such a rich and fascinating conceptual space.

If you have things you still want to say or you wish to summarize or
reflect on aspects of the FleshFactor discussion to date, please write.
Many people will be checking in on the FleshFactor website during this
week and this will be an opportunity to participate in this week in Linz.
We would be very pleased to hear from you.

Until September 21st,

Tom Sherman, moderator, FleshFactor net-symposium
