Eine Million BesucherInnen im neuen Ars Electronica Center

1 million visitors to the new Ars Electronica Center
Bettina Zierhut is the Millionth Visitor to the “New” Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, April 25, 2014) This afternoon, it was our pleasure to welcome Bettina Zierhut as the millionth visitor to the Ars Electronica Center since the expanded and enhanced facility reopened on January 2, 2009. The 31-year-old from Luftenberg dropped by the Museum of the Future with her family. They got a gala reception from Austrian Minister of Art and Culture Josef Ostermayer, Linz Mayor Klaus Luger and Bernhard Baier, Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Ars Electronica, as well as Ars Electronica chief executives Diethard Schwarzmair and Gerfried Stocker, who presented Bettina Zierhut with a one-year pass for her whole family. Plus, Ms. Zierhut got to input the crawl text of her choice onto the Ars Electronica Center’s LED façade and also received a complementary dinner for two at Cubus, the AEC’s restaurant. “The fact that the Ars Electronica Center has continued to enjoy excellent attendance since its reopening in January 2009 is attributable to the interesting and important topics that are treated here as well as the well-conceived educational programs this facility offers,” said Minister Ostermayer. Mayor Luger saw things in a similar vein: “A million visitors in a little over five years shows that peering into the future and considering society’s ongoing development can be just as fascinating as looking back at the history of art.” Deputy Mayor Baier added: “I would especially like to congratulate the Ars Electronica Center staff on the outstanding exhibitions they produce every year and their attractive ways of getting across content to visitors. Alone the fact that our staff has provided more than 25,000 guided tours since January 2009 attests to the high level of commitment here.”
