Forests are more than just trees! They are landscape-forming, species-rich and diverse. They are an important habitat for countless animal and plant species, meaning for recreation and leisure, offer protection against natural hazards and are an important economic factor. The speaker Friedrich Schwarz is head of the botanical garden and the natural history station. As a trained vegetation ecologist, he has dealt extensively with the topic of forest and forest ecology. The lecture gives an overview of the different forest types and functions.
