This sound installation features twelve artificial worms consisting of magnetic balls. Each worm moves back and forth on a stage by alternately side-winding and straightening out its body. In doing so, the worms tap and knock on the stage in various beats, which generates sounds. But there’s a logical explanation for the dynamic cycles—arrays of electromagnets installed beneath the stage. Thus, the worms change position in response to the electromagnetic field generated thereby.
