Curiosity is one of humankind’s most important qualities; it’s a basic prerequisite for the human urge to explore. At the Ars Electronica Futurelab, in light of our orientation on matters of great relevance to society’s future, an essential element of our mission is awakening curiosity.
We live up to this commitment by producing projects that are attractive to people with very diverse backgrounds and from all walks of life. After all, the capacity to create a personal frame of reference is what stimulates interest and launches a dialog. This encouragement to actively take part in a learning process goes beyond mere entertainment.
The readiness to engage in a discourse emerges via the mise-en-scène of a project that, in addition to rationally imparting knowledge and information, constantly strives to achieve an emotionally affective level of creative-playful interaction.
