u19 – CREATE YOUR WORLD is the Prix Ars Electronica’s category for young people. It gives kids and youngsters up to age 19 the opportunity to have a say about the world of tomorrow and to produce and present their concepts of and ideas for it. This is your big chance to really apply your inventive powers to your world—the world we’ll be spending the rest of our lives in.


  • A Golden Nica statuette together with a cash stipend of €3,000
  • Special Prize: netidee of €1,000
  • 2 Awards of Distinction, each including a cash stipend of €800
  • 2 Prizes: one for the 10 & under age group; one for the 11-14-year-olds
  • Up to 10 Honorary Mentions

What should you enter?

Entries can be completed works and projects, as well as detailed concepts or models in which the idea has been substantially developed in the direction of realization. The work itself could be, for instance, an artistic animated film, sound creation, website, app, scientific or social project, creative design, or innovative, futuristic idea. It’s freestyle, so anything goes!

Who can submit?

  • Anyone who is under 19 years of age on the official entry deadline date and lives in Austria is eligible.
  • Both individuals as well as groups are invited to participate.
  • Works that were created in conjunction with school projects may also be submitted.


netidee A special prize honoring innovative projects having to do with the internet will be awarded in 2018. How can the internet advance regional development in Austria? The grand prize is the netidee SPECIAL PRIZE 2018 and €1,000!
