Umdasch – RAG SHOPPING WALL

Prototype of a new shop format in a world of digital retailing

In cooperation with Umdasch Shopfitting, Europe’s leading shop design firm, fashion retailer RAG and Samsung, Ars Electronica Solutions developed an interactive shopping wall that lets customers browse RAG’s product portfolio by interacting with the Wall via RFID code on physical objects.

As an up-to-date interface at the point of sale (POS) for in-store customers as well as online shoppers, the Wall combines the haptic product experience with the possibilities of digital product information and online features. The utilization concept encompasses multiple levels (advertising & promotion, online marketing in-store), whereby interaction is via touch and the actual merchandise. The Wall allows for presentation of RAG’s entire product line at the POS. Thus, in these times of digital retailing, it creates an innovative experiential space for customers at the POS.

From September 16, 2013, until the end of the year 2013, the RAG SHOPPING WALL could be seen and tested at the RAG-Shop at Mariahilferstraße 20, 1070 Vienna.

A more detailed description is available in the Umdasch RAG SHOPPING WALL folder. In addition, the Ars Electronica Blog provides a comprehensive overview of the project.
