Exhibitions

Ars Electronica is one of the world’s top addresses for media art. At the festival, you’ll meet the Who’s Who of the international media art scene as well as young shooting stars who are just starting to make a name for themselves. First and foremost, we’d like to recommend one of the many exhibitions, the Prix Ars Electronica Exhibition, where you can see the best media art works of the year that have been honored by the international jury of the prestigious competition.

Another “must” is the large exhibition on the festival’s respective annual theme, where artistic positions are always presented in a spectacular way. Be inspired by groundbreaking collaborations between science, technology and art at the STARTS Prize Exhibition! Every year, several dozen international universities use Ars Electronica as a platform and present impressive results of their educational programs at the interface of art and technology in the Campus Exhibition.

A fixed point in the program of every Ars Electronica is the unique mix of concerts, performances and DJ sets. Let yourself be captivated by the virtuoso skills of the protagonists and enjoy the broad spectrum of events that take place over the five days of the festival.

Screenings

Year after year since 1987, the Prix Ars Electronica has been searching for the world’s best computer animations. You’ll see an exquisite selection of them during Ars Electronica in the form of the specially curated Animation Festival. The lineup we’ll be showing you in the Ars Electronica Center‘s Deep Space 8K is equally extraordinary. On 16-by-9-meter projections on the wall and floor, artists from all over the world will stage 8K-resolution visual worlds that will take your breath away. Guaranteed!

Conferences

Ars Electronica offers an almost uncountable range of exciting talks, lectures and conferences. The big two-day symposium on the festival’s annual theme brings together renowned experts and pioneers from the fields of science, art, design and technology. At STARTS Day, everything revolves around innovation for and from Europe, at the Prix Forums you’ll meet the winners of the Prix Ars Electronica’s Golden Nicas, and the Expanded Animation Conference is devoted to computer animation trends outside the mainstream.

Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria

Industrial city. University city. UNESCO City of Media Arts. 211,000 people live and almost as many work in Linz. Technology, natural sciences, art and design are the most important location factors – an environment that ideally supports Ars Electronica and, vice versa, constantly receives new impulses from Ars Electronica. The only constant in the city is change, with everyone involved always looking ahead, to the future. The art and creative scene is part of this dynamic and has been shaping Linz’s development for decades.

Festival for Art, Technology and Society – since 1979

Harbor dock, industrial site, mountain tunnel, monastery, former mail distribution center, university campus-every Ars Electronica goes outside, into the city. We’ll reveal which locations the 2024 Ars Electronica Festival will be heading for in the spring!
